Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Scriptorium is a markdown-first writing app that helps you collect, organize, and draft notes. For privacy questions, contact: hello@scriptorium.app.

2. Information we process

Scriptorium is designed for a drive-only workflow.

Google account profile label: We may read your Google Drive account display name or email address to show the connected account in the UI.
User-created content: Notes and project drafts you create in Scriptorium.
Technical session data: Local browser state needed to keep your signed-in and sync session active.

3. Google APIs and permissions

Scriptorium uses Google OAuth and Google Drive API access with the https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file scope.

This scope allows Scriptorium to create, read, update, and delete files and folders that Scriptorium creates or that you explicitly open with Scriptorium.
Scriptorium does not request broad read access to all files in your Google Drive.

4. How we use information

Authenticate your Google session.
Create and maintain your Scriptorium workspace folders in Google Drive.
Sync notes and writing projects between your browser session and Google Drive.
Show connected account and sync status in the app.

5. Data storage and retention

Primary content storage is your own Google Drive.
In-browser temporary state may be used for active editing and connection status.
If you disconnect or clear browser data, local session state can be removed.
You can delete files directly in the app or in Google Drive at any time.

6. Data sharing

Scriptorium does not sell your personal information. Data is processed through Google APIs only to provide app functionality you request.

7. Security

We use OAuth-based access tokens and standard HTTPS communication with Google APIs. No method of transmission or storage is fully risk-free, but we aim to minimize data access and scope.

8. Your choices and rights

You can revoke Scriptorium access in your Google account permissions.
You can delete your app files from Google Drive.
You can stop using the app at any time.

9. Children

Scriptorium is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum legal age in your region).

10. Policy changes

We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date on this page.
